Making a Positive Impact

Julius Stecker, one of the 2017 Top 10 Next Gens nominated by Groups Today readers for making a difference in the industry, has worked in group travel for over 10 years. He currently serves as the Director of Group Sales and Business Development with Mayflower Tours.

What inspired your passion for travel?

What sparked my interest in travel was a cross-country train trip to Philadelphia with my father when I was 6 years old. Since then, I have been always fascinated by travel and the allure it brings.

How did you become involved in the group travel industry?

I became involved in the industry when I was hired at Collette as Sales Manager in Wisconsin, in December of 2006.

What's your favorite part about your current position? The group travel industry?

My favorite part of my current position right now is seeing my team progress and improve. There is nothing better than seeing someone set a goal and reach it, and to realize you had a part in helping.

My favorite part of the group travel industry to see how impactful group travel is in people's lives.

What have you accomplished so far in your career? What's your most prized accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment in my career was winning multiple Sales Awards in my previous roles, but also mentoring others to help them reach all of their goals.

How do you hope to make a difference in the group travel industry? What do you hope to accomplish?

I hope I can make a positive impact in the group travel industry by helping the continued growth of Mayflower Tours. It is a really fantastic company to be a part of. I was also want to make sure I am doing all I can to help my team achieve their goals.
