Pigeon Forge Welcomes Mike Gwinn
As group travel gathers more steam in the wake of the pandemic, the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism has welcomed group sales industry veteran Mike Gwinn as their new senior sales manager.
Gwinn, who brings more than 23 years of experience in the group travel industry to his new position, was most recently the director of sales for MainStay Suites in Pigeon Forge.
"Mike is a familiar face in Pigeon Forge and throughout the group sales industry," said Leon Downey, Executive Director, Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism. "As our senior sales manager, Mike's expertise and contacts will lead Pigeon Forge's efforts to resume group travel following more than a year of interruption due to the pandemic."
Pigeon Forge is one of the premier motorcoach destinations in the U.S. and welcomes more than 10 million visitors annually. Group and motorcoach travel are key staples of Pigeon Forge's tourism industry.
"Travel is essential to our city's success, as is group travel, and I'm eager to work with our local partners alongside tour operators across the country to welcome all groups back to Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains," Gwinn said.
In this position, Gwinn will conduct sales missions, organize road shows and familiarization tours. In addition, he will work directly with tour operators across all sectors, including motorcoach operators, AAA and youth travel representatives, and family reunion coordinators, to promote travel to the area.
